CLERMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College softball team earned a split in its first day of action during their spring break trip to Florida. The Polar Bears suffered a setback to Western New England, 6-2, but defeated Babson 2-0.
In the victory against Babson, Kara Nilan twirled a gem, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits to win a pitcher's duel against Tess Rubega of Babson. Nilan also went 2-3 while Casey Correa also collected two hits, including a double. Toni DaCampo had an RBI hit and Molly Nestor also had a double.
Western New England tripped up Bowdoin 6-2 in the Polar Bear's first loss of the campaign. Tricia Thibodeau took the loss in the circle for Bowdoin, who got a pair of hits from Hillary Smyth and a double from Nestor.
