Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - The second-ranked Bowdoin College field hockey team scored three times in the first 25:36 to remain unbeaten in a 4-1 win at Connecticut College on Saturday. The Polar Bears improve to 6-0 (4-0 NESCAC) this fall while the Camels fall to 4-3 (1-3 NESCAC).
NESCAC Player of the Week Cathleen Smith scored twice for Bowdoin, including the game's first marker just 4:50 into the opening half. Elizabeth Clegg doubled the Polar Bear at 21:55, redirecting a Katie Herter shot to put the visitors up 2-0. Smith increased Bowdoin's lead with another feed from Herter at 25:36.
Brittany Fitzgerald was able to cut into Bowdoin's lead with a goal one minute before intermission, but Katie Riley answered at 65:18 to seal the win for the Polar Bears.
Herter finished the day with three assists for Bowdoin, who out-shot the Camels 18-6 for the afternoon. Kayla Lessard stopped five shots in the win.
