BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a 30-4 run midway through the first half to pull away from Emerson in an 88-46 victory on Thursday evening. The Polar Bears, ranked 18th in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll, improve to 10-1 this season. Emerson falls to 2-9 with the loss.
Bowdoin was paced by four players in double-figures, including 13 and six rebounds from Alexa Barry. Katie Bergeron had 12 points and six assists while Jill Henrikson and Amy Hackett had 11 apiece. Kaitlin Donahoe pitched in nine points, five assists and three steals for the Polar Bears. Olivia DiNucci had a game-high 15 points, including four three-pointers for the Lions. Olivia Connors and Amy Sherman had 10 points apiece.
Tied at 11 points in the early going, Bowdoin dominated the remainder of the first period, going on a 30-4 run over a ten-minute span and extending their lead to 41-20 at halftime. The Polar Bears shot 50.0% for the game (35-70) while holding Emerson to 35.7% (15-42). The Polar Bears forced 31 turnovers and committed just eight of their own while collecting 22 steals and dealing out 23 assists as a team.
