BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team held Wellesley to 18 points in the second half of a 71-39 victory on Sunday during the opening day of the Bowdoin Women's Basketball Classic. The Polar Bears (8-1) are ranked 21st in the latest D3Hoops.com National Poll. Wellesley (7-2) sees their five game winning streak come to an end with the loss.

Nicole Coombes led all scorers with 15 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Alexa Barry scored eight points with ten boards for the Polar Bears, who had seven players net six or more points. Becca Kimball scored 11 points for the Blue.

Bowdoin closed the first half on a 19-9 run to take a 33-21 edge at intermission and quickly pushed the lead to 27 points with a 19-4 surge to open the second period. The Polar Bears held the Blue to 29% shooting in the second half and forced 25 turnovers in the game. Bowdoin also held a 42-32 edge on the glass.

Wellesley will play Trinity (Conn.) at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow at Morrell Gymnasium to close out the Classic. Bowdoin will host Clark at 6:00 p.m.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Trinity College women's basketball team jumped out to a 15-4 lead and never looked back in a 74-47 win over Clark on Day One of the Bowdoin Women's Basketball Classic Sunday. The Bantams (8-3) will face Wellesley on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. while Clark (2-8) faces the host Polar Bears at 6:00 p.m.

Carly Napier sparked the Bantams with 16 points off the bench while Michelle Royals added 11 points, seven boards and five assists for Trinity. Megan Grondin led Clark with 12 points and three steals.

Trinity held a 39-25 edge at intermission and extended their lead to as many as 33 points in the second half. The Bantams forced 28 Clark turnovers and converted them into 28 points while holding the Cougars to just 31% of their shots from the field.
