WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team
overwhelmed Plymouth State University in a doubleheader on Thursday
afternoon, taking out the Panthers by scores of 11-3 and 5-1. The
Polar Bears are 11-3 so far this spring and will close out their
Florida trip against St. Olaf on Friday.
Brendan Garner and Brett Gorman delivered the big blows for the
Polar Bears as both swatted three-run home runs in the game. That
proved to be enough for pitcher Joe Pace, who went the distance,
allowing eight hits and striking out four. Gorman had three hits in
the game to lead Bowdoin.
Steve Hall earned the win in game two, tossing six innings of
one-run ball while striking out nine. Gorman went 2-3 with a triple
and two runs scored while Garner reached base twice and scored a
pair of runs.
