CLAREMONT, Fla. - The Bowdoin College softball team closed out
their spring trip with a doubleheader of sweep of Morrisville State
and Middlebury on Wednesday afternoon to finish their break with a
record of 11-5.
Tricia Thibodeau tossed a one-hitter as Bowdoin mercy-ruled
Morrisville in the opener, 9-0. In just five innings, Thibodeau
struck out three for the Polar Bears as Caroline Dewar went 4-4.
Clare Ronan and Kara Nilan had two hits apiece while Toni DaCampo
had an inside-the-park home run.
Bowdoin won a thriller against NESCAC foe Middlebury in game two,
2-1. Julia Jacobs put Bowdoin in position to win by throwing six
innings and allowing no runs and three hits with four strikeouts.
The Panthers rallied to tie the game with a run in the top of the
seventh against Michelle Wells, but Bowdoin mounted a game-winning
rally in the bottom of the frame. Lauren Coven singled to lead off
the inning and Molly Nestor sacrificed her to second base. Two
batters later, Kara Nilan singled to give the Polar Bears the
win.
Bowdoin will play next on March 28 at Husson University.
