HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College squash teams closed out
play at the 2010 NESCAC Championships on Saturday and Sunday with
the men finishing fourth overall and the women claiming ninth.
After being bounced by Trinity in the semifinals, the Polar Bear
men battled Bates in a thrilling third-place match, bowing to their
rivals by a 5-4 decision. Bowdoin, who had lost the regular-season
meeting to the Bobcats by a 7-2 score, received points from David
Funk, Arun Makhija, Rahul Madan Mohan and William Fantini.
The Polar Bear women rebounded from their opening-round loss to
torch Conn. College (8-1) and Tufts (9-0) and claim ninth-place
overall. Lauren Gesswein and Lizzy Warner led the way at the top
two positions for Bowdoin, both earning a pair of 3-0
victories.
