NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College men's squash team improved
on their national ranking and finished 14th at the College Squash
Association National Tournament at Yale last weekend. The Polar
Bears, ranked 15th entering the tournament, went 1-2 in the Hoehn
"B" Division and finish their season with an overall record of
13-11
After falling to Williams in the opening round, 9-0, the Polar
Bears recovered to bounce Brown, 6-3, avenging an early-season loss
to the Bears. In their final match of the tournament against Navy,
Bowdoin suffered a 6-3 setback to round out play.
David Funk led the way for Bowdoin with a pair of wins at the #2
position against Brown and Navy. Thai Ha-Ngoc also earned two wins
against Brown and Trinity in the number nine slot for the Polar
Bears. Other winners for Bowdoin included Andrew Hilboldt, who was
victorious at #8 against Navy, and Palmer Higgins (#1), Andrew
Bernard (#3), Arun Makhija (#5) and William Fantini (#7) against
Brown.
