BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team rallied from a four-goal deficit to force overtime, but fell to Skidmore 7-6 in overtime on Julian Malakorn's game-winning goal. The fourth-ranked Polar Bears (3-1-0) drop their first game of the season while Skidmore improves to 3-3-0.
Daniel Weiniger notched a goal and a career-high four assists while Harry Matheson posted two goals and an assist. Kyle Shearer-Hardy (one goal, two assist) and Graham Sisson (three assists) also had three-point nights for the Polar Bears, who also got goals from Jeff Fanning and Kyle Lockwood.
Down 6-2 entering the final period, Lockwood scored at 7:57 to close the gap to three goals. Shearer-Hardy and Matheson scored less than two minutes apart later in the period and Fanning's goal came with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation.
Zach Menard (two goals), and Nick Dupuis (one goal, three assists) led the Thoroughbreds. Colin Bessey made 21 saves for Skidmore. Steve Messina (two periods, 13 saves) and Connor Shannon (one period and overtime, 13 saves) shared netminding duties for the Polar Bears.
