WATERVILLE, Maine - Elizabeth Clegg and Katie Herter both had
two goals in lifting sixth-ranked Bowdoin College to a 5-1 win over
Colby College in NESCAC field hockey Wednesday night at Bill Alfond
Field. The Polar Bears earned their 10th win of the season and
reach double-digits for the 19th-straight season; the longest such
streak in Division III field hockey.
Clegg scored two goals in the first 6:32 of the game and later
added an assist for Bowdoin (10-0 overall, 6-0, NESCAC). Herter
also had two goals and one assist. Kassey Matoin also tallied for
the Polar Bears. After Bowdoin took a 4-0 lead at intermission,
Herter took a centering pass from Clegg and tallied just 26 seconds
into the second half in putting the Polar Bears up 5-0. Colby
midfielder Meryl Poulin scored off a penalty corner with about 20
minutes to play.
Emily Neilson played the first half and did not make a save,
while Kayla Lessard stopped three shots in the second half. Liz
Fontaine made 12 stops for Colby.
