Bowdoin Women Sweep, Men Sink Babson in Opener

COMPLETE RESULTS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's swimming and diving team left a pair of teams in their wake while the men sank Babson in a season-opening meet at MIT on Saturday. The Polar Bear women (2-0) defeated Babson (204.00-67.00) while edging the host Engineers (149.00-146.00). The men's squad (1-1) easily bested Babson (209.00-79.00) and fell to MIT (203.00-85.00).

Winners on the women's side for Bowdoin included multiple winners Allison Palmer, Caitlin Callahan and Erin McAuliffe. Palmer won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events while McAuliffe took the 100 and 200-yard backstroke competitions. Caitlin Callahan placed first in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke races. Allen Garner won the 200-yard freestyle for Bowdoin and Molly Homoki took the 200-yard individual medley. 

The women's relay teams were also victorious, taking both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay race.

Zach Perez was the lone winner for the men's team, placing first in the 100-yard breaststroke.
