Bowdoin College

Ryan Sullivan has led the Bowdoin softball program for more than two decades, becoming the winningest head coach in program history and guiding the Polar Bears to sustained success in the NESCAC. Sullivan has led Bowdoin to both of its NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including a return to the national tournament in 2026 following a 27-win season. During his tenure, he has coached numerous All-NESCAC, All-Region and the program's first-ever All-America performers.


 

At Bowdoin

• Head Coach of Softball since 2005 after serving as co-head coach in 2004.
• Winningest head coach in Bowdoin softball history with 480 career victories.
• Guided Bowdoin to its first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2010.
• Led the Polar Bears back to the NCAA Tournament in 2026, earning an at-large bid and finishing the season with a 27-11 record.
• Guided Bowdoin to the NESCAC Championship game in 2010.
• Named NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2018.
• Has coached numerous All-NESCAC, All-Region and All-America selections.
• Coached Anika Ewert ’26, who became the first three-time All-American in program history and graduated holding numerous Bowdoin career records.

Athletic Career

• Played football at Middlebury College as an offensive lineman.
• Recipient of Middlebury’s John P. Stabile ’40 Memorial Trophy, presented to a member of a men’s team who best exemplifies the Middlebury spirit.
