Bowdoin College

Brianne Smithson has served as head coach of the Bowdoin women’s soccer program since 2012, leading the Polar Bears to consistent success in the highly competitive NESCAC. During her tenure, Bowdoin has made five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, highlighted by the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2023. Smithson was named NESCAC Co-Coach of the Year in her first season at Bowdoin and has coached numerous All-NESCAC, All-Region and All-America honorees.

At Bowdoin

• Head Coach of Women’s Soccer since 2012.
• Five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2022 and 2023.
• Guided Bowdoin to the program’s first NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2023.
• Led the Polar Bears to the 2023 NESCAC Championship game.
• Has guided Bowdoin to the NESCAC Tournament in all but one season during her tenure.
• Named NESCAC Co-Coach of the Year in 2012.
• Has coached dozens of All-NESCAC and All-Region honorees and five All-American selections.
