Bowdoin College

Jay Durfee has served as head coach of the Bowdoin men’s golf program since 2019, bringing extensive experience as a coach and PGA professional. Before coming to Bowdoin, Durfee coached at Notre Dame Academy and Hanover High School in Massachusetts, earning five conference Coach of the Year honors and 2018 Massachusetts State Golf Coach of the Year. A 1996 Husson University graduate and Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Durfee also has an extensive background as an NCAA ice hockey official, working at both the Division I and Division III levels for more than two decades.



At Bowdoin

• Head coach of the Bowdoin men’s golf program since 2019
• Has helped elevate the Polar Bears’ profile within the NESCAC and Northeast region 
• Team has re-written its record books during his tenure - the program's top-ten tournament scores (two- and three-round tournaments) have all come since he became head coach.
• Has coached six All-NESCAC players, including the 2024 NESCAC Rookie of the Year
• Team has twice been named the GCAA Academic National Champion for Division III (2025, '26) 
• Oversees all aspects of the program, which plays its home rounds at Brunswick Golf Club
