About BSAAC
The Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (BSAAC) is a committee comprised of student-athletes representing every team on campus that comes together to provide insight on, and support for, the student-athlete experience. The BSAAC offers input to the Athletic Department administrative team on policies and procedures that affect student-athletes' day-to-day experience on campus, engages in programming to bring attention to the athletic experience on campus, and coordinates several community service initiatives within our campus and local community.
Chairs of the BSAAC operating committees meet with the Director of Athletics and coaching staff liaison and Head Coach of Women's Basketball Megan Phelps, every-other-week to ensure there are exceptional lines of communication between student-athletes and athletic department administrators. BSAAC operating committees include Community Service, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, First Year Integration, Mental Health, and Social Media.
Bowdoin Athletes for Patients at New England Cancer Specialists
Bowdoin College athletes are coming together during the 2024-25 academic year to make a significant impact through a special giving campaign benefiting the patients of New England Cancer Specialists. This initiative, driven by the passion and dedication of the student-athletes, aims to support individuals battling cancer by providing essential resources and care. Throughout their games this year, Bowdoin's athletes will be promoting the campaign, encouraging fans, alumni, and community members to contribute and join them in making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
New England Cancer Specialists is a leading provider of comprehensive cancer care in the region, and the funds raised through this campaign will directly support their mission of offering top-tier medical treatment, compassionate support, and innovative therapies to those in need. By choosing to align their athletic efforts with a cause that touches so many, the Bowdoin College athletes are not only demonstrating their commitment to excellence on the field but also their dedication to giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

Leadership Team
Owen Weller
President
Owen Weller is the President of the Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. This will be his third year on the committee, and he served as a member of the Executive Board last year. Originally from Madison, New Jersey, Owen is a senior and captain of the Men's Swim & Dive team. He is double majoring in Biochemistry and Hispanic Studies, and hopes to attend medical school following his time at Bowdoin. Outside of athletics and academics, Owen is also the Head Tour Guide for Bowdoin Admissions. Through his work with BSAAC, Owen hopes to give back to both the Brunswick and Bowdoin athletic communities. He aims to create events and initiatives that uphold the Common Good, and unify athletes across all 31 varsity programs.
Mary Rainey
Vice President
Mary Rainey is the Vice President for the Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. This will be her third year on BSAAC, where she was previously the co-chair of the Mental Health Committee. Mary is also an officer on The Hidden Opponent, a club focusing on advocating for athletes' mental health. Mary is a senior forward on the Women's Soccer Team. She is majoring in Neuroscience and Computer Science with a Digital and Computational Studies minor. Mary works as a LA in the DCS and Computer Science departments. Mary has participated in the LEAD program and worked as an intramural sports official at Bowdoin. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and creating a culture of understanding and compassion in athletics and the greater Bowdoin community.
Katie Ng
Head of Social Media
Katie is a junior captain on the Women's Golf Team, and this is her second year with BSAAC, where she previously served on the Social Media committee. Academically, she is a Biochemistry and Economics double major with a minor in Art History. Outside of academics, she has completed the LEAD program and runs the women's golf team's Instagram account. She is passionate about the intersection of the life sciences and business and has worked alongside the sales and marketing divisions at a pharmaceutical company. She hopes to keep using her passion for social media and marketing to grow the BSAAC community and raise awareness across the broader Bowdoin Sports community.
Clare Collins
Executive Committee Member
Clare is a senior on the Women's Squash team, and this is her third year as a member of BSAAC. Academically, she studies Neuroscience and Sociology with the intention of attending Physician Assistant School following graduation. Outside of sports and school, she is a Peer Health Educator with the Office of Gender Violence Prevention and Health Education, an officer and a Campus Captain for The Hidden Opponent, and a Learning Assistant in the Neuroscience Department. In her free time, you can probably find her reading a book or watching Ted Lasso. Through her work on BSAAC, she strives to foster a positive and connected campus community, especially among student-athletes.
Isabella Ornelas

Isabella is a junior on the Women's Cross Country and Track & Field teams. This will be her second year at BSACC, where she previously served as the AOCC and BSACC Campus Liaison and worked on the DEI Committee. Isabella is majoring in Economics and Romance Languages & Literatures with a minor in Urban Studies. She works as a Tour Guide and Athletic Monitor on campus. Isabella completed the LEAD program and is a captain on the cross-country team. She is passionate about creating welcoming spaces for all athletes.
Annie Stent
Executive Committee Member
Annie is a senior on the Women's Volleyball Team. This will be her third year on BSAAC, serving previously as a member of the DEI subcommittee and chairing the Sustainability subcommittee last year. Annie is majoring in Environmental Studies and Government and Legal Studies with a minor in Sociology. She works as an Environmental Studies LA on campus and has been an Executive on the Bowdoin Harpoon. She heads up her team's Dig Pink event and co-runs the team's instagram account. She is passionate about helping the Bowdoin athletics community and broader Bowdoin community become more involved in service opportunities, especially those concerning environmental efforts.
Maddie Paschke

Maddie is a junior on the Women's Softball Team. This will be her second year on BSAAC, last year serving as a member of the Mental Health subcommittee. Maddie is majoring in Biology with a minor in Psychology. On campus, she works as Volleyball Game Management staff and Intramural League Official, and has completed the LEAD program. She is passionate about building connections among student athletes and giving back to the Brunswick community.
Tamara Gisiger
Executive Committee Member
Tamara is a junior on the Women's Volleyball Team. This will be her second year on BSAAC, last year serving as a member of the DEI subcommittee. Tamara is double majoring in Economics and Government and Legal Studies with a concentration in International Relations. Outside of school, Tamara has been working on a Project for 4 years alongside two senators on the Mexican Repatriation to build a statue to honor families affected and educate as many people as she can. Tamara is passionate about advocacy and has participated in the LEAD program
