BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's soccer team completed an impressive weekend sweep of nationally-ranked opponents with a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Williams on Sunday afternoon at Pickard Field.
The victory came less than 24 hours after the Polar Bears knocked off top-ranked Wesleyan by an identical 1-0 score on Saturday. Bowdoin improves to 4-0-2 (2-0-1 NESCAC) with the win, while Williams falls to 4-1-1 (3-1-1 NESCAC). The Polar Bears have now posted three consecutive shutouts.
Game Highlights
- Williams generated the majority of the offensive pressure in the opening half, but Bowdoin goalkeeper Oliver King and the Polar Bear backline kept the Ephs off the board to send the game into halftime scoreless.
- The visitors continued to press in the second half before Bowdoin broke through midway through the period.
- Keito Ishibashi took control of the ball on the right wing and clipped a perfectly placed ball across traffic into the center of the box, where Donovan Sinicropi fully extended and toed it inside the right post for the game's only goal.
- Williams responded with sustained pressure following the Bowdoin tally, but King and the Polar Bear defense withstood the Eph attack to preserve the lead, fending off 12 Eph shots in the second half.
