Men's Tennis Finishes as Runners-up to Tufts in NESCAC Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team dropped a  4-1 decision to Tufts in the final of the NESCAC Tournament Saturday at Wesleyan University. The Polar Bears (17-4) finish as runners-up for the second straight season and likely to receive an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament when pairings are announced on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
 
Match Highlights
  • The teams split the first two completed doubles matches as Bowdoin's Kiran Garapati and Simon Catanzaro took a 6-1 win at number two for the Polar Bears.
  • However, Tufts' number three duo edged out Mick Tamas and Aden Dorros at number three (7-5) to give the Jumbos a 1-0 lead heading to singles.
  • Mark Kneiss took care of business quickly for Bowdoin at number one (6-2, 6-2) but the Jumbos were too much, winning in straight sets at positions two, three, and four to clinch the win.
