Polar Bears Split Regular Season Finale At Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team split its regular season finale after falling 8-7 on a walkoff homer in game one and cruising to a 6-3 win in game two at Colby.
 
The Polar Bears are 27-8 (11-7 NESCAC) heading into the conference postseason. The Mules boast a similar record at 25-10 (11-7 NESCAC).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Maddie Paschke put Bowdoin on the board with an RBI double in the first inning.
  • Colby took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning, only to see the Polar Bears regain the lead in the third.
  • Paschke drove in another run, singling through the left side, and Rosie Panenka plated two more with a double to center.
  • The Mules took the lead in the bottom half of the inning off two doubles and a homer.
  • Bowdoin forced extra-innings after Baylie Wong pushed a runner across the plate in the fifth and Margaret Flannery-Goodman hit a three-run double.
  • Caroline DeSimone hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth to win the game.
  • Paschke went 2-for-4.
  • Maddie Current pitched 2.1 innings with six hits allowed. Ellie Sullivan pitched 4.2 innings with four hits allowed with three strikeouts. Kathleen Hester suffered the loss with the eighth inning of work.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Penelope Fong-Picariello hit an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch. Flannery-Goodman drove in Rosie Panenka with a groundout to shortstop.
  • Colby got one run back in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Reilly Parga drove in two runs in the fifth inning, doubling down the left field line.
  • DeSimone made it 5-2 with a sacrifice fly to center in the sixth.
  • Parga had her third RBI of the day with a single in the seventh.
  • Colby tried to rally in the final inning but only found one run.
  • Parga went 3-for-4 in the game.
  • Hester went 6.1 innings with three runs allowed off a spattering of eight hits.
  • Sofia Hahn got the save with the final two outs of the game.
 
Up Next
  • The Polar Bears qualified for the NESCAC Tournament and wait for final seeding to be announced. Bowdoin will be hosting the 2026 tournament at Pickard Field from May 8-10.
