Men's Lacrosse Sprints Past Hamilton in NESCAC Semifinal Victory

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team advanced to the NESCAC Championship game for the first time since 2022 with a 17-11 win over Hamilton in the semifinals Saturday at Whittier Field.
 
The Polar Bears (16-0) will face the winner of Bates-Tufts in the conference title match at noon on Sunday.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears scored five of the game's first six goals, getting a pair from Sam Raye-Steiner to take a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter.
  • Hamilton played the Polar Bears even for the remainder of the half, as they closed the second quarter on a 3-1 surge to cut the Bowdoin lead to 9-5 at the break.
  • Bowdoin took control out of the gate in the second half, as Casey Ryan scored three goals in a nine minute span to push the lead to 13-5 late in the third.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as nine goals in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

  • Casey Ryan scored nine points on six goals and three assists to lead all scorers while Sam Raye-Steiner added four goals and two assists.
  • Chris Berry scored three times and Huck Trafton added two in the win.
  • Alex Byrne had three caused turnovers and five ground balls for the Polar Bears as Cam Wietfelt (13-16) and Alex Choi (10-14) dominated the faceoff dot for the Polar Bears.
  • Alec Delgado made nine saves and earned his first assist of the season in the Bowdoin victory.
