Men's Tennis Bounces Babson, Reaches NCAA Quarters for Third Time in Four Years

BRUNSWICK, Maine – For the third time in the last four years, the Bowdoin men's tennis team is headed to the national quarterfinals after getting a measure of revenge in a 4-1 win over Babson on Sunday at Pickard Courts.
 
The Polar Bears (19-4) advance the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, May 19, against the University of Chicago at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Match times will be announced this coming week.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears defeated the Beavers a year after falling to them in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 tournament, the only time Bowdoin had been bounced in the regional in the last four years.
  • Two quick doubles wins from Aden Dorros/Mick Tamas (6-0) and Simon Catanzaro/Kiran Garapati (6-3) put Bowdoin up 1-0 heading to singles.
  • Babson got one back via a win at number six but Bowdoin got a straight-set win from Catanzaro at number five (6-2, 6-2) and then a three-set victory from Jackson Codd at number three (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) to put the Polar Bears on the brink.
  • Kiran Garapati closed it out for Bowdoin at number two, winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to send the Polar Bears to Tennessee.

  • Bowdoin will make its ninth NCAA quarterfinal appearance (2002, '12, '16, '17, '18, '19, '23, '24) on the tenth anniversary of its NCAA Division III crown in 2016. Bowdoin last reached the semifinal round in 2024.
  • The Polar Bears haven't played Chicago since an NCAA semifinal win in 2018.
