Women's Lacrosse Rallies, Comes Up Just Short in Loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team couldn't hold on to a fourth quarter lead, falling at Colby 13-12 on Wednesday night. The Mules move to 7-4 (3-4 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears fall to 3-8 (0-8 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Colby led 4-1 after the opening quarter and extended their lead to 8-2 late in the second quarter, but the Polar Bears didn't go away.
  • Goals by Miya Imaeda and Grace Harvey trimmed the lead to 8-4 at halftime and Garvey sparked a five-goal third quarter for the Polar Bears and Bowdoin sprinted ahead, 9-8, with 3:08 left in the period.
  • Bowdoin carried their lead into the fourth quarter, but Colby answered with a 5-1 surge, claiming a 13-10 lead with 2:58 to go.
  • Two more goals by Harvey cut the lead to 13-12 with under a minute to play and Bowdoin actually had one more possession to tie in the closing moments, but a shot by Ellie Fabbro was saved in the final seconds to preserve the Colby win.

  • Grace Harvey had a career-high six goals on eight shots, causing two turnovers and winning six draw controls for Bowdoin.
  • Grace Schorr and Miya Imaeda had two goals each for the Polar Bears.
  • Katie Athanasoulas had four caused turnovers, three draw controls, and four ground balls for Bowdoin.
  • Hannah Rubin had four saves in 51:46 for Bowdoin.
