Men's Tennis Clinches Second Seed With Road Wins at Williams, Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team earned a pair of big road wins to cap their regular season, sealing the number two seed for the NESCAC Tournament with victories over Williams and Middlebury. The Polar Bears moved to 15-3 (9-1 NESCAC) on the season with the wins.
 
Williams Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears dominated singles play in a 6-1 win over Williams on Saturday.
  • Mark Kneiss/Jackson Codd (7-5) and Kiran Garapati/Simon Catanzaro (6-2) secured wins in doubles play to take a 1-0 overall edge.
  • Bowdoin won five of six singles matches to run away with the victory. Kneiss, Catanzaro, and Andrew Mendelson posted straight-set wins.
  • Garapati took a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 win at number two and Codd finished up with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-5 win at number three for the Polar Bears.
Middlebury Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin rallied in singles play after being swept in doubles action, trailing 1-0 out of the gate.
  • The Polar Bears took four of six singles matches to mount the comeback win, with Codd, Catanzaro, and Cameron Zia rolling in straight-set wins.
  • Garapati closed it out with a comeback victory, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to seal the win for Bowdoin.

  • Bowdoin will head to Wesleyan University for the NESCAC Championship next weekend, beginning Friday when they play seventh-seeded Colby at 1:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
