Polar Bears Conclude Four-Game Hamilton Series With Extra-Innings Walkoff Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team forced a series split after winning game two 10-9 in extra-innings against visiting Hamilton on Saturday.
 
The Polar Bears are 13-16 while the Continentals leave 12-14. Hamilton earned a game one win with a 7-6 come from behind victory.

Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored on a fielder's choice in the first inning, but Hamilton tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second.
  • The Polar Bears regained the lead as Wim Nook crossed home on a passed ball in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Will Logue added an RBI single up the middle in the third, making it 3-1.
  • Liam Foley and Will Bordes both had extra base hits to drive in runs in the fourth. Foley hit a double to left center and Bordes tripled to center.
  • Hamilton rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.
  • Conor Moriarty got one run back for Bowdoin in the final inning, doubling down the left field line, but the Polar Bears could not find an equalizer.
  • Foley went 2-for-3 and Bordes went 2-for-4.
  • Bordes pitched six innings and allowed seven hits and four earned runs. Sam Almy recorded all three outs in the seventh and allowed a pair of runs off two hits.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin went up 3-0 in the bottom of the first off a Bordes RBI single, a Will Cooke RBI, and Conor Moriarty groundout.
  • Hamilton scored a run in the second on a wild pitch, but Bowdoin answered as Will Logue cleared the left field wall for a solo shot.
  • The Continentals slowly chipped away with three runs in the third, but again Bowdoin answered in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Matt Orlando drove in three runs and Liam Foley added one more.
  • Bowdoin led 8-4 after three, but Hamilton flipped the script and made it 9-8 by the sixth.
  • Moriarty tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, hitting a chopper to short that plated one run.
  • Bowdoin walked it off in the eighth inning when Bordes scored on a wild pitch.
  • Logue went 4-for-4. Tommy O'Donnell and Cooke also had multi-hit games.
  • Sam Sacerdote got his first win of the season with the final three innings of work with three hits allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
