Softball Bats Continue To Produce With Two More Wins

BARTOW, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team continued its winning start to the season with another doubleheader double victory day on Wednesday against Kean University and Beloit College.
 
The Polar Baers climb to 4-0 after defeating Kean (4-6) in a 6-2 game. The Polar Bears took down Beloit (1-9) 13-2.
 
Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board in the first inning off Sammie Wright's single up the middle that plated Anika Ewert.
  • Kean took the lead with a pair of runs in the third, but Bowdoin answered with three of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Maddie Paschke and Margaret Flannery-Goodman both had RBI singles and Reilly Parga hit a one-run double.
  • Penelope Fong-Picariello got on the board with an RBI single to right in the sixth. Anika Ewert later scored when she stole home.
  • Paschke went 3-for-3. Parga and Flannery-Goodman were both 2-for-4.
  • Ellie Sullivan pitched three innings and allowed four hits and a pair of runs with two strikeouts. Kathleen Hester pitched four innings with four hits and a matching number of strikeouts.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Paschke put Bowdoin on the board in the top of the first with an RBI single to left, but Beloit tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Beloit took a third-inning lead off Allie Gustafson's double to right.
  • Bowdoin scored six runs in both the fourth and seventh innings.
  • Hannah Murray and Paschke both hit two-run doubles. Parga added a one-run single.
  • Baylie Wong tagged an RBI double in the seventh and Ewert added a run-producing single. Wright and Paschke both tripled, with Wright plating a pair and Paschke one. Parga added another RBI single.
  • Paschke went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Sullivan went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored twice.
  • Ewert also went 3-for-5, while both Wright and Parga had multi-hit games.
  • Sophia Hahn pitched three innings with five hits allowed. Ava Biasotti took the circle for four innings of work with two hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.
