Volleyball to Host Annual Dig Pink Weekend in Support of Breast Cancer Research

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team will host its annual Dig Pink Weekend October 16-17 at Morrell Gymnasium, raising funds and awareness in the fight against metastatic breast cancer.

The Polar Bears will host three matches as part of the weekend, beginning Friday, October 16, against Middlebury at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 17, Bowdoin will face Hamilton at noon before closing out the weekend against Endicott at 5:00 p.m.

In partnership with the Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink initiative, the team hopes to surpass last year's record-setting fundraising total of $6,460. All proceeds raised throughout October will support research and awareness efforts focused on metastatic breast cancer.

Fans attending the matches can support the cause by making donations at a table in the Morrell Gymnasium lobby, where pink pins will be available and donors can enter a raffle for gift cards to Dog Bar Jim, Wild Oats and Dutchman's. Supporters can also participate in the team's pledge-per-dig fundraiser, making a donation for every dig recorded by the Polar Bears, or contribute directly to the team's online campaign.
