Long Distance Shooting Leads Men's Basketball Over Husson

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team knocked down 17 three-pointers in a 95-80 win over Husson on Tuesday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 12-6 while the Eagles fall to 12-8.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin sprinted to a 10-0 lead thanks to five early points from Mason Dawkins, but Husson stormed back to eventually deadlock the score at 26 by the eight minute mark of the first half.
  • The teams traded the lead twice in the closing moments of the opening half, with Husson holding a 37-36 edge with 3:45 left in the stanza.
  • Bowdoin closed the half on a 14-2 run, sparked by four three pointers in a row, including two from Ray Cuevas, and took a 50-39 into the break thanks to a buzzer-beating dunk by Dawkins.
  • Halpern started the second half with a three-pointer to key a 13-2 Bowdoin run to start the period, including three more dunks from Dawkins, that pushed the lead to as high as 22 points in the second half on their way to the win.

  • All five Bowdoin starters reached double digits, led by 27 from Ray Cuevas, who also had seven rebounds and six assists.
  • Kevin Reeves had 15 points, 15 rebounds, and two steals for Bowdoin while Alex Halpern hit six three-pointers for 18 points.
  • Mason Dawkins finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists and Ben Chilson ended with 12.
  • Bowdoin's 17 three-pointers were two shy of the school mark of 19 (set in 2007) as the Polar Bears shot 42% in the game and scored 28 points off 16 offensive rebounds.
