BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team used a balanced attack to claim an 82-79 win over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon in Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears claim their first NESCAC win of the season and improve to 10-4 (1-1 NESCAC) while the Camels fall to 10-4 (0-2 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- A back-and-forth first half saw three lead changes before Bowdoin took control late in the frame.
- Trailing 23-21 with under six minutes remaining in the half, a three-pointer by Ray Cuevas gave Bowdoin the lead for good, as the Polar Bears used a 15-5 run to give themselves an eight-point cushion, 36-28.
- The Polar Bears maintained a seven-point edge, 39-32, at the break as they shot 53% from the field.
- Bowdoin pushed their advantage to as many as 14 points with 15:45 to play in the second half, but the Camels stayed within striking distance, trimming the lead to five points, 62-57, with seven minutes to go.
- The Polar Bears answered every run, however, as they responded with an 8-0 surge, capped by a Ben Chilson three-pointer, that pushed the lead back to 13 points with under five to go.
- Bowdoin led by 11 points with under a minute on the clock before the Camels closed the game on a 15-7 run over the final 54 seconds closed the final margin to three.

- Bowdoin connected on 52% from the field in the game, including 8-17 from three-point range, overcoming 22 turnovers that led to 22 Conn College points.
- Five Bowdoin players saw double digits, led by 26 from Ray Cuevas, who also had six rebounds, and seven assists.
- Mason Dawkins had 14 points and eight boards while Ben Chilson scored 13 with six rebounds and four assists.
- Kevin Reeves added 13 points and eight boards with four steals while Nolan Bessire pitched in ten points and eight caroms.
- Bowdoin controlled the glass, holding a 49-35 advantage in rebounding.
