Football Can't Hold Early Lead in Loss at Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton football team earned its first win of the season in a 27-13 victory over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. The win moves the Continentals to 1-2 while the Polar Bears stand at 0-3.

Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears got on the scoreboard first, marching 55 yards on 13 plays to score on a 37-yard field goal by Caden Perry.
  • Hamilton answered with a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ended in a touchdown, but Bowdoin responded moments later when Soren Hummel found Michael Wolfendale for a 46-yard touchdown strike before the end of the quarter, giving Bowdoin a 10-7 lead.
  • The Continentals held Bowdoin scoreless for the next 38:18, however, as the Polar Bears were held off the scoreboard the entire second and third quarters.
  • A Hamilton touchdown midway through the second frame gave the hosts a 14-10 lead at halftime, and two more long touchdown passes in the second half built their lead to 27-10 with 12:21 to go.
  • Bowdoin got another field goal from Perry – from 30 yards out – but could get no closer.
