Men's Soccer Drops Mid-Week Matchup to Bates

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bates College men's soccer team defeated Bowdoin 2-0 in a NESCAC contest at Pickard Field on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears suffer their first defeat of the season and drop to 3-1-1 (1-1-1 NESCAC) while the Bobcats move to 4-0-1 (1-0-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • After a back-and-forth opening half, the Bobcats grabbed the lead before halftime when a through-ball from Hewitt Stevenson found the foot of Andrew Jean Baptiste at 43:40.
  • The Polar Bears had a pair of great chances following a corner kick early in the second half but couldn't find the equalizer.
  • A free kick from Tomas Alberola doubled Bates lead at 75:19 and the Bobcats held off the Polar Bears for the final 15 minutes to secure their first consecutive wins over Bowdoin since 1998-99.
