Softball Splits With Trinity To Conclude Regular Season

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team celebrated Senior Day with a series split against Trinity, including a 7-6 walk-off winner in game one.
 
The Polar Bears conclude the regular season with a 20-18 overall record and a 7-11 NESCAC record. The Bantams see their season end at 10-23 (4-14 NESCAC).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored a run in each of the first three innings. Chloe Garcia had an RBI single, Ellie Sullivan an RBI double, and Elise Siciliano another RBI single.
  • Trinity got on the board in the fourth but Penelope Fong-Picariello responded in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Reilly Parga pushed Bowdoin ahead 5-1, doubling to left center. Maddie Paschke singled up the middle in the fifth to make it a five run lead for Bowdoin.
  • Trinity tied the game in the top of the sixth inning.
  • Sydney Lang hit a walk-off homerun to left field in the seventh inning to give the Polar Bears a 7-6 win.
  • Maddie Current pitched 5.1 innings with three strikeouts. Ran fell during the top of the sixth innings and made ball control difficult.
  • Kathleen Hester took over in the circle and closed out a scoreless 1.2 innings of work.
  • Parga, Garcia, and Fong-Picariello all had two hits. Lang tallied three.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Trinity got on the board in the first inning off a passed ball.
  • Garcia hit an RBI double down the left field line in the first. Parga later scored from third on another passed ball and gave Bowdoin a 2-1 lead. JK Bradley added an RBI fielder's choice.
  • Bowdoin scored four more runs in the second inning. Fong-Picariello and Garcia each had an RBI. Lang added a two-run double to left.
  • The rest of the game's offense came from Trinity bats. A trio of runs in the fifth made it 7-4.
  • The Bantams tied the game in the sixth with a two-run double and one-run double.
  • The extra-innings game-winning run was another RBI double in the ninth.
  • Fong-Picariello led the way, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Lang was the only other Polar Bear with multiple hits.
  • Ellie Sullivan pitched four innings and gave up seven hits, three earned runs, and two strikeouts.
  • Ava Biasotti went 1.2 innings with four hits and three earned runs, fanning one.
  • Hester pitched the final 3.1 and allowed three hits with four strikeouts and one earned run.
