Polar Bears Return To Action In Monday Night Win Against Monks

STANDISH, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team returned from its off weekend with a commanding 14-6 win over Saint Joseph's on Monday night.
 
The Polar Bears sit at 23-9 while the Monks are 20-17.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Liam Foley tagged an RBI double and Lukas Tsai knocked in a pair of runners with a single through the right side.
  • Two more runs went on the board in the second inning. Reuben Siegel stole second, drew the throw, and Dirks scored. Foley later walked as Siegel made to steal third, resulting in a throwing error by the catcher that allowed Siegel to score.
  • Foley's bases-loaded walk in the third made it 6-0.
  • The Monks got three runs back in the third inning.
  • The Polar Bears scored a pair of runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to make it 10-3.
  • Saint Joseph's scored in the bottom of the sixth only to see Liam Foley hit a solo homerun in the seventh.
  • The Monks scored two more runs again in the seventh, but Bowdoin scored three more through the final two frames.
 
By the Numbers
  • Foley, Tsai, and Kevin Murray all had two hits. Chris Dirks and Grant Collins each had three.
  • Foley tallied three RBI while Collins and Tsai each had two.
  • Siegel swiped three bases.
  • Bowdoin threw seven pitchers who combined for six hits allowed and sic earned runs. The staff fanned nine batters.
