Women's Tennis Wraps Regular Season With Two Win Weekend and Locks Up NESCAC Three Seed

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's tennis team concluded the regular season with a pair of weekend wins over NESCAC opponents and earned the #3 seed for the upcoming conference tournament.
 
The Polar Bears head into the post-season with a 14-4 overall record and 8-2 NESCAC record.
 
Bates Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin took the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2. Jamilah Karah and Candice Ballarin combined at the top spot. Bella Hartung and Zoe Sun won at #2. Both pairings won their matches 6-2.
  • Bowdoin swept singles play. Hartung (6-0, 6-0) and Karah (6-1, 6-1) cruised at #5 and #3, respectively.
  • Cara Hung earned a 6-3, 6-4 win playing one singles for the Polar Bears.
  • Suzanne Pogorelec picked up a win at #2 (6-2, 7-5).
  • Julie Ross played #4 for Bowdoin and finished 6-1. 7-6 (7-4).
  • Ballarin dropped the first set but came back to win 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
 
Tufts Match Highlights
  • Sunday's match against the Jumbos was against a team looking to crack into the top-four of the NESCAC. Tufts finished the season 6-4 in NESCAC play and earned the fifth seed.
  • Bowdoin again won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2. Karah and Caroline Stuhlfaut finished 7-5 at #1. Hartung and Sun went 6-3 at #2.
  • Karah again cruised at #3 with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match.
  • Hung won 7-5, 6-2 at #1.
  • In the two spot, Pogorelec finished off her opponent 6-4, 6-3 and Sun went 6-4, 6-1 at #6.
 
Up Next
  • The NESCAC Tournament is scheduled for May 2-4 at Wesleyan. The Polar Bears earned the #3 seed after posting an 8-2 record in conference play. Bowdoin plays #6 Williams at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
