Softball Suffers Sweep At Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin softball team suffered a pair of losses at Tufts on Friday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears remain winless in conference play (0-4) and sit at 9-9 overall. The Jumbos are 6-10 (2-0 NESCAC) after winning 8-3 and 10-2.
 
Game One Highlights
  • Tufts took a 2-0 lead off a two-run single in the second.
  • Bowdoin tied the game off a Penelope Fong-Picariello RBI single and an Elise Siciliano sacrifice fly.
  • The Jumbos regained the lead with a two-run double in the third.
  • The hosts continued to add runs in the fourth and sixth.
  • Bowdoin scored one last run in the seventh off a JK Bradley double to right center.
  • Anika Ewert went 2-for-3.
  • Maddie Current pitched six innings and allowed 11 hits with four strikeouts. Only four runs were earned runs.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • The Jumbos put four runs on the board in the first two innings.
  • Fong-Picariello added another RBI to her day in the third inning.
  • Ellie Sullivan singled through the left side in the fourth to make it 4-2, driving in Reilly Parga.
  • Tufts scored two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
  • Sullivan and Kyla Gary both had two hits in the game.
  • Kathleen Hester suffered the loss with nine hits allowed and six walks in 3.2 innings of work. Ava Biasotti pitched the remainder of the game with five hits allowed and two walks.
