Baseball Concludes Spring Break With Setbacks Against Coe

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team saw its historic start come to an end after suffering a pair of Wednesday losses to Coe College.

The Polar Bears return home with an 11-2 after falling 2-1 in game one and 9-2 in game two. Coe is 7-2.

Game One Highlights
  • The teams held each other scoreless through the first four innings until the Kohawks broke through in the fifth. Coe opened the inning with a single and moved the runner to third with a sacrifice and wild pitch. CJ Johnson put down a bunt that allowed the runner to score from third.
  • A leadoff walk in the sixth put a runner on and he eventually scored on an RBI single.
  • Bowdoin looked to rally in the top of the seventh following a Grant Collins leadoff single. Chris Dirks hit into a fielder's choice that retired Collins but Dirks ended up in third following a Conor Moriarty single. Dirks scored following a fielding error from the pitcher.
  • Moriarty went 3-for-3 at the plate.
  • Jason Bogdanos pitched a complete game and allowed just four hits and two runs with three strikeouts.

Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board first in game two. Liam Foley plated Will Bordes. But the Kohawks took control from there.
  • Coe scored two runs in the second and another four in the third. The Kohawks added a three-run sixth before Bowdoin found another run.
  • Finn Cahill hit an RBI double in the sixth to plate Bowdoin's last run.
  • Foley went 2-for-4 as Bowdoin's only multi-hit player of the game.
  • Bowdoin allowed seven hits and five earned runs.
