Softball Downs Ohio Wesleyan But Suffers Setback to Calvin

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team split a pair of Saturday games with a win over Ohio Wesleyan and a five-inning setback against Calvin.
 
The Polar Bears are 6-4 on the year after defeating Ohio Wesleyan 11-4 and losing 8-0 to Calvin.
 
Game One Highlights
  • Reilly Parga got Bowdoin on the board in the second inning with a double to left.
  • The Battling Bishops took a 4-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning, but the Polar Bears took over from there.
  • In the fourth, Chloe Garcia and Anika Ewert both hit RBI singles. Elise Siciliano drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 4-4.
  • JK Bradley gave Bowdoin the lead with a single to left that plated Rosie Panenka. Parga blasted a three-run homer to center and Siciliano added an RBI single.
  • Sydney Lang and Panenka both added RBI singles in the seventh.
  • Ewert, Parga, Bradley, and Penelope Fong-Picariello all had multi-hit games.
  • Ewert, Ellie Sullivan, and Parga hit doubles.
  • Sullivan pitched four innings and allowed eight hits with three earned runs. Kathleen Hester had three innings of work with one hit allowed.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Calvin scored at least one run in every inning. The Knights scored a run in both the first and second innings and added two runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth.
  • Panenka and Kyla Gary were the only two Polar Bears with hits.
  • Bowdoin's pitchers combined for eight hits allowed and ten walks.
