Volleyball Ends Season in NESCAC Quarterfinal Loss to Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Tufts University volleyball team concluded Bowdoin's season on Saturday evening in a 3-0 NESCAC quarterfinal win. The Polar Bears end their year with a record of 14-10 while Tufts advances to the conference semifinals with a record of 20-5.
 
Match Highlights
  • Tufts took the win by set scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-16.
  • The first set was the closest of the evening, as the teams were tied at 20 apiece. A late surge by the Jumbos, including winning three of the final four points, secured the win and a 1-0 advantage.
  • Bowdoin stayed within striking distance in the second set, but Tufts rolled off a 6-1 run to close it out and take a 2-0 lead.
  • Tufts secured the win in the third, jumping to a 5-0 lead out of the gate. Bowdoin clawed to within two points, trailing 13-11, but the Jumbos answered with a 5-0 run to create some space en route to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Zoe Ryu had eight kills and 11 digs for Bowdoin while Alison Smith added eight kills for the Polar Bears.
  • Cameron Shelly had 22 assists and Anna Yeh had 11 digs.
  • Bowdoin could only total 27 kills as a team and committed seven service errors in the loss.
