Box Score -FARMINGTON, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball built a big first-half lead and held off a second half rally by the University of Maine-Farmington on Wednesday evening in an 83-74 road victory. The Polar Bears improve to 2-1 on the year while UMF falls to 2-2.
 
Game Highlights

• The Polar Bears built a 21-point halftime lead on the strength of their defense, as they held UMF to 22% shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
• Bowdoin got nine points apiece from Ray Cuevas and Jackson Bleecker and connected on 48% from the field to take the commanding lead at the break.
• The Polar Bears extended their lead to as many as 28 points early in the second half on an and-one by Cuevas before the Beavers came alive.
• UMF outscored Bowdoin 32-15 over a ten minute stretch, trimming the lead to eight points, 65-57, with 7:14 to go.
• A three-pointer from Cuevas pushed the lead back to double figures, and the Beavers could get no closer than six points in the final two minutes as Bowdoin connected on eight free throws in the final minute to win.

By The Numbers

• Cuevas scored 20 points in the second half and finished with 29 for the game to go with eight rebounds and two steals. He finished 14-14 from the free throw line.
• Jackson Bleecker scored 18 points with eight boards while Nolan Bessire scored eight with five rebounds.
• Bowdoin finished at 43% shooting from the field while UMF connected on 37% in the contest.
• The Polar Bears went 25-30 from the free throw line in the game, and held a 49-29 advantage on the glass.
