BRUNSWICK, MAINE- The NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament kicks off this weekend at Bowdoin College, for the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament's First and Second Rounds hosted by the Polar Bears.
The pod consists of the hosts, Bowdoin, as well as the Lyon College Scots, Roger Williams University Hawks, and UMass Boston Beacons. The matchups begin on Saturday, Nov. 15, with Bowdoin hosting Lyon at 11:00 am, with the Hawks and Beacons matching up at 1:30 pm. The advancing teams will meet on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 1:00 pm. The Bowdoin College men's soccer team returns to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last four years and will host an NCAA Regional for the second time in four seasons. The Polar Bears finished third in the NESCAC standings and ranked ninth nationally in the Division III NPI to earn an at-large bid. Led by 12th-year head coach
Scott Wiercinski (112-52-44, .644), Bowdoin makes its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time and sixth under his direction.

After a challenging stretch to close September (1-2-2), the Polar Bears surged through October, going unbeaten and unscored upon during a six-match winning streak before tying top-ranked Tufts 0-0 in the regular-season finale.

NESCAC Player of the Year
Tyler Huck has been the centerpiece of Bowdoin's success, leading the team with 10 goals and seven assists. Over his four-year career, Huck has totaled 31 goals, 18 assists, and 80 points—ranking third all-time at Bowdoin in each category. Defense has been Bowdoin's calling card this fall. The Polar Bears rank 12th nationally in goals against, allowing just 10 all season and none to non-conference opponents. The back line features First Team All-NESCAC selection

Lyon College men's soccer makes history as the first Lyon program to enter an NCAA Division III Tournament since active membership was granted earlier this year. Under fourth-year head coach Emanuel Santos (35-30-11), these Scots were also the first to win a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.

The Fighting Scots started their season going 2-3-2 through most of September, then picked up three straight wins all in conference to start October. Lyon would drop two matches in close losses, but would record back-to-back victories in which they outscored their opponents 13-2. In the conference tournament only one goal would be allowed, as All-Tournament MVP Gabriel Rangel recorded nine saves. Still 0-0 in double overtime of the championship match, Lucca Torres would drive in the game winner off a header, securing the SLIAC's auto bid for the Scots.

In addition to Rangel's MVP, Torres and Joao Barros were named to the SLIAC All-Tournament team as well. Torres led the team offensively totaling 12 goals and eight assists. Barros recorded a respectable six goals and two assists. On the season Rangel faced 135 shots, allowing 11 goals, and making 39 saves. This team earned seven all-conference honors as well, with Matheus Nunes, Cristian De La Rosa, and Tomas Biasi being named 1
st Team All-Conference. Torres, Barros, and Rangel were named 2
nd Team All-Conference. Adryan Ledezma was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Roger Williams enters the tournament after securing their second conference title, and first under the Conference of New England (CNE), under Head Coach James Greenslit, who is in his 11
th season leading the Hawks. Greenslit has compiled a 104-61-39 (.605) record leading the Hawks during his tenure, and is now a two-time conference Coach of the Year, after being named for the 2025 campaign.
The Hawks had a redemption season, seeing the last three seasons end in penalty kicks, beginning with their last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022. The Hawks needed PK wins in the Semifinals and Finals of the CNE Tournament, as they closed out the Tournament with a 4-3 PK win over Suffolk. Roger Williams outscored opponents 33-14 on the season, averaging 1.65 goals per game, while keeping opponents to 0.70 on the season. The Hawks also have 29 total assists on the year, with 125 corner kicks, averaging 6.10 per contest, while having a shots on goal percentage of 0.489.
The Hawks are anchored by CNE Goalkeeper of the Year Eliot Panaccione (Pepperell, Mass.), who made 46 saves with a 0.75 goals against average, posting a 10-1-6 record. The Hawks' primary goalkeeper made 17 starts with eight shutouts on the season. The Hawks had nine members of the team earn All-Conference honors, with Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.) and Brandon Rodriguez
(Norwalk, Conn.) both receiving first team honors at their position alongside Panaccione. Jastrab has 17 points on the year, with eight goals and an assist, while Rodriguez has been a force on the defensive end to help the Hawks to 10 shutouts.
Liam Blaisdell and Dylan Robbins each earned Second Team honors within the CNE, with Robbins leading the Hawks in points with 18 off five goals and eight assists. Blaisdell has eight points on the season with a pair of goals and four assists. Team captain Max Patenaude also earned Second Team recognition in the midfield, along with Dylan Thomas. Rounding out All-Conference performers are Will Schiffer and Luke McCarthy, who earned a spot on the All-Conference Third Team.
UMass Boston Beacons

The UMass Boston men's soccer team is headed back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2022 season after defeating top-seeded Western Connecticut, 2–1, to claim the 2025 Little East Conference (LEC) Championship. Picked to finish first in the LEC preseason coaches poll, the Beacons overcame a slow 1-1-1 conference start to finish 5-1-2 in league play and 12-3-4 overall. During that stretch, UMass Boston was nearly unbeatable at home, posting a 6-1-1 record at the BC High JV Field.Â

The Beacons enter their NCAA matchup with Roger Williams riding a four-game winning streak. Along with the conference title, UMass Boston earned a league-best seven postseason honors from the LEC. Leading the way was Ian Visnick, who was named Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-LEC First Team honors. Joining him on the First Team were John Arruda, Felipe De Andrade, and Jair Whyte, while Eduardo Chirico and Rafael Gross were recognized on the All-LEC Second Team.Â

This season also marked a historic milestone for Head Coach Jake Beverlin, who became the winningest coach in UMass Boston men's soccer history. Beverlin earned his 143rd career victory on October 18 with a win over Eastern Connecticut State, surpassing the late Noel Cotterell for the program record. Â

About the Matchups
This will be the first meeting in history between Lyon and Bowdoin, as the Scots just completed their transition to NCAA Division III active membership this season. The Polar Bears are in their 11
th all-time NCAA Apperance and are hosting for the second time in the last four seasons. The Hawks and Beacons are set to matchup for the first time since 2016, with the Becons coming out with a 2-0 victory. UMass Boston leads the all-time series, 7-6-6, the lone meeting since the turn of the century.
