BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team used a balanced attack to defeat Emerson, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon. The Polar Bears improve to 6-2 this season with the win while the Lions fall to 5-5 overall.
 
Match Highlights

• Bowdoin claimed the win by set scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-12.
• A tightly-played first set saw Emerson leading late, 19-18, but a Bowdoin rally, sparked by a Mina Mittler kill, closed the set on a 7-2 surge to take a 1-0 lead.
• With Bowdoin up 20-15 in set two, Emerson stormed back with a 8-3 run to tie the set at 23 apiece. A Mittler kill and an service ace by Cameron Shelly scored the final two points for Bowdoin as the Polar Bears took a 2-0 edge.
• The hosts cruised in the third set, sprinting to a 17-3 lead en route to the win.

By The Numbers

• Six different Polar Bears had at least four kills, led by nine from Mina Mittler and five apiece from Skye LaMendola, Olivia Deane, and Hannah Woolley.
• Alison Smith had three blocks and Cameron Shelly had five aces for the Polar Bears.
• Anna Yeh led the defensive effort with 17 digs while Deane and Paige Butler had ten apiece.
• Shelly finished with 17 assists and Butler added 13 in the victory.
