Women's Tennis Opens Season At MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  – The Bowdoin women's tennis team opened the fall schedule at the MIT Invitational over the weekend and posted several top results.
 
Match Highlights
  • In singles play, Caroline Stuhlfaut advanced to the semifinals after wins over Tufts (6-4, 6-0), Amherst (6-3, 7-5), and MIT (7-5, 7-6, 10-4). Stuhlfaut fell to Melanie Woodbury from Tufts by a final of 6-2, 7-6 (10-3) in the semis.
  • Four Bowdoin players advanced to the semifinals in the Consolation Bracket. Suzanne Pogorelec defeated Jula Ross to earn a place in the finals, and Isabella Hartung defeated Zoe Sun to face Pogorelec in the final.
  • In doubles play, Jamilah Karah and Isabella Hartung advanced to the finals after an 8-7 (10-5) win over Tufts and an 8-5 win over MIT. The duo fell to a pair from Amherst (8-5) in the finals.
  • Candice Ballarin and Julia Ross advanced to the Consolation Bracket finals after defeating teammates Sun and Marie Frati in the semis.
  • Ballarin was named a Sportsmanship Award winner.
