Men's Tennis Cruises to Win in NCAA Opener Against Nichols

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team easily dispatched Nichols College in an NCAA Division III Tournament Second Round match on Saturday afternoon, 5-0. The Polar Bears (20-6) advance to Sunday's regional final against the winner of Williams and RPI. Nichols ends its year with record of 14-8.
 
Match Highlights
  • The only thing delaying Bowdoin's win on Saturday was the elements, as rain came in the middle of doubles play, resulting in a two hour delay and move indoors to Maine Pines.
  • Pieter Breuker and Andrew Mendelson took an 8-2 win at number three and Tristan Bradley/Reid Staples followed quickly with an 8-4 victory.
  • Trailing early at two doubles, Ethan Bradley and Jackson Codd rallied to win six of seven games and take an 8-5 win.
  • In singles it was a race to the finish, with Breuker taking a 6-2, 6-0 win at number three in approximately 40 minutes.
  • Soon after, Andrew Mendelson capped it off with a win at number six, taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory to clinch it.
