Women's Lacrosse Falls to Wesleyan in NESCAC Quarterfinals

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close in a 14-5 setback to Wesleyan University in the opening round of the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The seventh-seeded Polar Bears finish their year with a record of 8-8 while the second-seeded Cardinals advance to next week's semifinals with a record of 14-2.

Game Highlights
  • The teams played a tight, low-scoring first half that saw neither team find the back of the net for the first 14:57 of the contest.
  • Wesleyan scored with three seconds remaining in the frame and rolled off the first three goals of the second quarter to build a 4-0 lead, before Anna Kelly scored shortly before halftime to make it 4-1 at the break.
  • The Cardinals scored three times out of intermission to build a 7-1 cushion, and withheld a 3-1 surge by Bowdoin that closed the gap to 8-4 entering the fourth.
  • The Polar Bears could get no closer than that, however, as the Cardinals scored five times in the final 10:23 to pull away.
