Softball Drops Two at Trinity to Begin NESCAC Play

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin softball team opened conference play with a pair of 12-3 losses to Trinity with both games being completed in five innings.
 
The Polar Bears had to wait well over a week to return to play after a successful trip to Florida. Bowdoin is now 11-5 (0-2 NESCAC), while the Bantams are 11-6 (3-1 NESCAC).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Bowdoin jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off Elise Siciliano drove in a run with an RBI groundout.
  • Trinity answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game.
  • The Bantams put five runs on the board in the second inning to open up a 6-1 lead.
  • Gary continued her day of driving in runs with an RBI single in the third. Siciliano had her second RBI of the game, plating Gary.
  • Trinity had another five-run inning in the bottom of the inning and added a 12th total run in the fourth.
  • Gary and Ewert were the only Polar Bears with hits in the game.
  • Maddie Current and Anna Halliday split time in the circle, both allowing six total runs.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Bowdoin was in an early hole as the Bantams went ahead 3-0 after two innings.
  • Kyla Gary doubled to left field and drove in Anika Ewert it out Bowdoin on the board.
  • Trinity scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Gary again drove in a run in the top of the following inning. Sydney Lang also recorded an RBI to make it 7-3.
  • Trinity ended the game in the fifth inning with a two-run homer and a three-run homer.
  • Gary and Ewert each had a pair of hits in the game.
  • Kathleen Hester suffered the loss in the circle with four innings of work and four earned runs off five hits. Ava Biasotti pitched the abbreviated bottom of the fifth.
