Women's Soccer Season Ends At Home Against Tufts

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team saw its season come to an end in a 2-0 loss to Tufts on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears conclude the year at 2-7-6 with a 1-7-2 NESCAC record. The Jumbos will be home for a conference quarterfinal on Saturday with a 12-2-1 (7-2-1 NESCAC) season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Tufts had a trio of quality chances in a two minute span midway through the first half. Caroline Kelly forced Charlotte Iannone to make a save, while Emily Nicholas rocketed a shot off the right post. Kelly had a second shot hit crossbar.
  • With 15 minutes remaining in the half, Elsi Aires put the Jumbos on top.
  • Aires set up the second Tufts goal of the game three minutes into the second half. Aires found Nicola Sommers who finished off the play from right in front of the goal.
  • Iannone made seven saves in the second half to keep the Polar Bears in the game.

  • Tufts held a 21-5 edge in shots and 12-3 shots on goal advantage.
  • Iannone ended the day with nine saves.
  • Gigi Edwards made three stops to earn the shutout.
