LAST WEEK
Despite being deadlocked at halftime, the Polar Bears surrendered 27 straight points to start the second half in a
34-14 setback at Williams. Amherst dug themselves a 20-0 hole and couldn't recover in a
29-21 home loss to Middlebury.
LAST MEETING
Last year in Brunswick, Amherst posted a goal line stand in the closing moments to
preserve a 27-23 win at Whittier Field.
Robbie Long threw for 117 yards and rushed for 72 for the Polar Bears, who held a 35:06-24:54 edge in time of possession.
Nick Viscusi made five tackles for the Polar Bear defense while
Kanoa Young and five stops, including three for a loss.
BOWDOIN vs. AMHERST – ALL-TIME
The two long-time rivals have met continuously since 1946 and have played in every non-war/pandemic season since 1940. Amherst owns an 80-19-2 edge all-time but the last three meetings have all been decided by one possession. The 2021 Polar Bear win was the first at Bowdoin for head coach
B.J. Hammer and the 2004 showdown - a 34-28 Amherst win - was the first overtime game in Whittier Field history.
