Men's Hockey Skates to 2-2 Overtime Tie at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team settled for a 2-2 tie at Middlebury on Saturday evening.
 
The Polar Bears are 10-4-3 (6-2-3 NESCAC) while the Panthers are 4-8-4 (2-5-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin earned back-to-back power play opportunities halfway through the first. The Polar Bears converted 1:24 into their second chance as Jesse Lycan buried a clapper from the right point to the near post.
  • Middlebury tied the game at 1-1 3:26 into the second. Andrej Hromic skated behind the net and fed Revy Mack on the left dot. Mack deflected the puck past Alex Kozic to put the Panthers on the board.
  • Midway through the period, Middlebury took its first lead of the game. Mack moved past a defender along the right side and centered a pass to Dante Palombo for a tap-in from the edge of the crease.
  • Bowdoin forced eventual overtime with a goal with just 56 seconds remaining in the second. Isaac Abbott blasted a shot from the blueline that was initially saved. The rebound kicked to Andy Stoneman who put the puck away.
  • Luke Wheeler rattled a shot off the crossbar in overtime, but the teams had to settle for a 2-2 tie.
 
By the Numbers
  • Both teams went 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • Kozic made 26 stops for Bowdoin, including two in overtime.
  • Jake Horoho stopped 17 shots.
  • Bowdoin held a narrow edge in faceoffs won, winning 30 and losing 29.
