Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team enjoyed a strong start to its 2023 fall campaign with several strong performances at last weekend's MIT Invitational.
 
Weekend Highlights
  • First-year Julia Ross led the way, advancing all the way to the finals of the singles bracket, winning four matches, including a 6-1, 2-6, 10-5 semifinal victory over Zoe Kava of Tufts University. Ross fell to Shepherd Johnson of MIT in the finals, 6-1, 6-4.
  • Ross teamed with Elizabeth Yu to win the consolation doubles crown, rebounding from a first round loss to win three straight matches, including an 8-6 win in the finals over an MIT duo.
  • Other impressive showings included Cara Hung and Caroline Stuhlfaut in singles play, both advancing to the quarterfinal round.
  • Hung and Zoe Sun also reached the quarterfinal round of the doubles competition.

  • Bowdoin will compete at the ITA New England Regional Championship this weekend at Wesleyan University.
