Men's Soccer Blows Past Eagles in Sunday Matchup

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team exploded for five second half goals to collect a 6-0 win over Husson on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears played their third game in the span of six days and improved to 3-0-0. The Eagles suffer their first setback of the year and fall to 1-1-2.
 
Game Highlights
  • Paul Cluskey scored the game's first goal in the seventh minute. The Polar Bears earned a corner kick and Felipe Rueda Duran sent a low cross to the far side for a tap-in by Cluskey.
  • Husson earned a penalty kick sixteen minutes into play, but Bowdoin keeper Alex Ainsworth made a diving save to his left to preserve the lead.
  • Rueda Duran set up Tyler Huck's goal in the 52nd minute. The sophomore dribbled the ball around several defenders on the end line and served Huck for a successful header opportunity.
  • Rueda Duran scored for himself on a penalty kick at 53:21.
  • Keito Ishibashi set up a scoring play 13 minutes later with an end line cross from the left side. Kamar Burris-Khan elevated for a header goal to make it 4-0.
  • Carlton Steinberg made the Polar Bears 2-for-2 on penalty kick opportunities with a goal in the 70th minute.
  • Burris-Khan scored the game's final goal a minute later, hooking a left footed shot to the near right back post.
 
By the Numbers
  • Rueda Duran has contributed to nine of Bowdoin's 12 total goals this season, notching a goal or assist on ¾ of all the Polar Bear's tallies in 2023.
  • Bowdoin put 14 shots on net, including 16 in the second half. The Polar Bears did not allow a single shot in the final 45 minutes.
  • Alex Ainsworth played 77 minutes and made one stop. Grant Griesman played the final minutes.
  • Alex Rechsteiner recorded eight saves.
