WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team cruised past Nichols on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, 5-0, in a match played on the campus of Williams College. The Polar Bears (16-4) advance to the regional finals of the tournament where they will play Williams Sunday at noon for a trip to Orlando and the national quarterfinals.

Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin cruised in a tight 1 hour, 13-minute shutout victory over the Bison.
  • The Polar Bears leapt to a 3-0 lead after doubles, highlighted by a pair of 8-0 wins from Tristan Bradley/Reid Staples and Evan Fortier/Mark Kneiss.
  • Ethan Bradley and Pieter Breuker closed out the session with an 8-3 win to give the Polar Bears a commanding 3-0 lead into singles.
  • From there it was a race to see which singles matches would close the deal for Bowdoin, and Mark Kneiss (6-1, 6-1) and Pieter Breuker (6-0, 6-0) crossed the finish line first.
  • Bowdoin led by a set at every other court when play was stopped.
  • It marks the third time that Bowdoin has finished Nichols' season in the NCAA Tournament, matching 5-0 wins in both 2016 and 2017.
Up Next
