Baseball Earns Tight 2-1 Win Over Trinity

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Jason Bogdanos pitched a complete nine innings to lead the Bowdoin baseball team to a 2-1 conference win over Trinity on Friday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 10-5 on the season and 1-0 in NESCAC action. The Bantams are 12-6 (2-2 NESCAC), heading into Saturday's doubleheader.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bogdanos retired the side in order to begin the game. Ben McKenzie hit a leadoff single to shortstop and stole second to put himself in scoring position. CJ Brito-Trinidad put Bowdoin on the board with a single through the right side that drove in McKenzie for the 1-0 lead.
  • The top of the second was the same as the first with three straight batters retired. Gabe Peckler singled to short to leadoff the bottom of the second. Peckler took second with a wild pitch and scored from Lukas Tsai's single to right field.
  • Trinity had its first hit of the game in the top of the third, but two groundouts and a strikeout left the runner stranded 90 feet from home.
  • Bogdanos continued to keep Trinity off the base path, allowing just two baserunners through the sixth inning. The Bantams spoiled the shutout in the top of the seventh. Patrick Dillion drew a one out walk and advanced to second as Dylan Schnitzer was hit by a pitch. Dillion scored off Colin Mann's chip to second that was not cleanly fielded.
  • Bogdanos recorded 1-2-3 innings in the eighth and ninth to conclude the game.
 
By the Numbers
  • McKenzie went 3-for-3 at the plate. Tsai went 2-for-4.
  • Bogdanos pitched a complete nine innings and allowed just two hits. The sophomore walked one batter and fanned four.
